The Royal Wedding

Posted on

We sat down this morning to watch the Royal wedding, we drank tea and ate cream and strawberry jam filled scones which I baked this morning with just a pinch of salt and sugar so that ‘T’ could have some too. We marvelled at how beautiful Kate looked and admired the beautiful flowers, Grandma was here to watch it with us too, a lovely morning that will be remembered!

Evenings Outside

Posted on

The sewing, baking, cooking, drawing and anything else that I would usually do indoors on an evening has all come to a halt this week as we have been heading outside for relaxed BBQ’s in the evenings instead, it has been wonderful to enjoy the warm evenings (and hot days) in the garden and to go out for walks as a family whilst my husband has had time off work.

Easter

Posted on

Some photographs from our Easter, we had a little Easter bunny hunt in the morning which Daddy had to help little ‘T’ with (and was much to my amusement!) Instead of chocolate eggs we bought a little book about Easter and a little duck family from the Ostheimer range, we have had lots of ducks at the bottom of our garden recently so thought it appropriate!

I have been a bit lazy over the past few days when it comes to making things, instead I have been lapping up the sunshine at any given chance and taking care of the garden, I have started to make a patchwork quilt but still have a way to go! Spring colour

The past few days have been filled with lovely hot sunshine – I have rushed outside every time little ‘T’ goes for her nap to catch the rays by making tidying up the garden and planting some more summer flowers, we have been going on lovely walks in the afternoons and to see the bluebells again which are out in full colour now.

Easter chocolate tart

This is a nice easy one to make (if you cheat and use the pre-made pastry like I did) It’s one of Rachel Allen’s recipes and is quick and easy to do, plus is very tasty!

Healthy Baby Muesli Recipe

Posted on

Here’s the recipe I use for my baby’s breakfast cereal, the raisins keep it sweet and tasty yet it’s packed full of goodness and the oats keep her full, I grind it all up in a food processor and serve it with warm milk and a mashed banana, yoghurt or fruit puree:

Ingredients:

4 x parts oats

1 x part raisins

1 x part mixed seeds (I have used sesame, pumpkin and sunflower)

Woodland Walk

Posted on

The sun was shining and it was a perfect morning for a walk with friends and the babies in our local woodland. It is probably my most favourtie place in the World, especially at this time of year when the bluebells are starting to appear, we’ll have to go back again in a few days time to see them all out in their full glory.

A new life for a little tricycle…..

Posted on

For a while now I have been on the hunt for a little tricycle for my girl to play with and I have been after a metal one – so that it lasts for a long time. I had been looking online after only being able to find plastic ones in the shops and saw that they were really expensive, I also looked on ebay but couldn’t really find anything I liked, until I came accross this one in our local charity shop for just 1.50!

A good scrub, a quick bath and a lick of paint and it’s like new! Little ‘T’ loves it so far and I’m looking forward to years of joy from this little bargain!

A belated Mother’s Day

Posted on

It’s a bit late – I know, but due to customs, the Mother’s Day gift that I ordered for my Mum was delayed (the seller posted it very quickly so no fault on her part at all, her Etsy shop can be found here). I popped over in the morning with a quick breakfast whilst ‘T’ had her morning snooze. Anyway, here is her gift, a nest ornament containing 3 large ceramic eggs with her 3 children’s names on them, plus 5 little eggs with the first initial of each of her grandchildren on each egg.

So sorry you’ve gone……..

Yesterday was a terribly sad and shocking day, a lovely beautiful woman who I went to school with was tragically killed in a car accident, I hadn’t seen her for years though at school she was one of those girls who was friends with everyone, had a fantastic sense of fun and had the most wonderful smile. She should never have left this World so early and my heart goes out to her close friends and family at this awful time.

It is a scary lesson to remember how quickly a life can suddnely be taken and how precious each moment is, it has been a strong reminder to cherish the friends I have and once had, drive more carefully than ever and live live to the fullest. Sleep tight Emma, you shouldn’t have gone so soon xxx
